Painting for Church Craft Fair

I did this 36" x 12" acrylic on canvas for the Lafayette Presbyterian Craft Fair to be held
the 2nd weekend of November in the Church Sanctuary. Originally
titled Evening Star, but I may need to change that. Fun landscape to do.

Super Creepy Girl

This is sort of going all over the place. Yes her arms look pretty bad right now, but those will get fixed up.

Emmaline on the easel

Blocking in the colors. This will be creepy, weird when finished because the background will be painted out from the black. I am doing washes of acrylic to build up the colors on Emmaline, something new to me.

Ashleigh with Midnight

Finished up the Ashleigh and Midnight painting today during the festival at Railroad Square Art Park. Will post a cropped photo when I have the chance.

Ashleigh with Cat Almost Finished

I imagine just one more day of touch-ups and I will be finished with this one. Best I can tell by the photograph I am working from that this is one old cat.
Decided to get rid of that window in the background and keep with my style of black.

Ashley and Cat on the Easel

Every time I look at this, I think "Oh My &%$#", but then get to work and am usually happy by the time I finish up. Then I look the next time and think, "Oh My %$&#". Once I work in the details on the cat and add the hair, which will make a huge difference, I will be in a better place. The problem I have with this painting is it is just too sweet. What to do? Stay tuned to find out....

Brianna II

I really like this painting because it is just in your face. I did not mess with the shirt too much, left it very vague and little detail.

Ashley with Cat

Even more color being blocked in, and starting to get some shape to the face.

Ashley with Cat

Blocking in more color.

Ashley and Cat On the Easel

Usual stuff here. 16 x 20 on gallery wrapped canvas. Blocking in colors. Already do not like the purple sheets, so will most likely change the colors there. These two photos represent about 2 hours work.

Brianna II Painting Finished

The photograph I was working from actually has her horizontal, but due to her hair as it is, I think it works better in a portrait format. Freckles are so hard to paint correctly and she has a lot. This is 16 x 20 Acrylic on canvas. Click on it for the best view. I also realized I signed it as if it was horizontal. OH Vel!

A Girl, A Bird and A Cat

I have done what I can do. I could still tweek and touch up, but most likely will not. Check out how I signed this one.....

Close to Done

Thanks to a little inspiration from Mandy, made a few changes to the cat. Finished up her hand and turned that big old tennis shoe into a plain white sock, I am close to finishing. A few touch ups around the eyes and hair, she should be finished awaiting a name. And need to add the whiskers.....

Adding some kitty....

Why a cat? Because cat's sell. Still has some work to do. Very hard to paint a white and black cat with a black background, without the cat looking to flat or too white.

Monday, August 15, 2011

Adding some bling....

my first idea was a Chickadee, but then realized you would have difficulty seeing the head, etc since they are pretty much have a black head. That is a problem with a black background. So we have a bird, big deal, maybe we need a cat somewhere here too....

Saturday work....

Putting in a lot more detail. Scrapped idea for background. Will have to re-think just what is going on here.

8/11 Evening Work

Did not like the arm up over the item she is sitting next to, so I took her arm out. Depends on what goes there, will decide whether to put an arm in, or leave it mysteriously missing.

8/11 Work on Untitled

Having so much trouble with the shirt, which it appears it is now turning into a sweat suit top. In the end the folds will work their way out. The big question is what is she doing, and what and/or who else will be in the painting. I have ideas. The one I plan on going with, you will go "huh?" And yes her eyes are large and very white presently. I will adjust the color to a little more natural, and with her hair to hang down into them at some point, the largeness will be needed. I have to say her blue jean shorts/skirt is looking pretty ok at this point.

8/9/2011 Work "Untitled"

Blocking in more colors. Having a fit with the folds in her shirt.

New Painting Started

Finally finished the Hallek painting. I will post that some time soon.
Here is the new painting. Colors being blocked in and trying to get an
idea for what to go in the background.

Halleck 5/23

Getting close to completion. Still need to get the hands finished. Touch up the face and clean up the body some. Light at the end of the tunnel.....

Monday, May 2, 2011

Halleck 502

Worked on the background some more, plus added to the foot even though it will mostly be covered by a plant shooting up from the foreground. Coming only slooooowly, if I can just find the time.

Hallek 4/11

Working on the background, then will go back and finish up the geese and the girl. Still a lot to do, especially with her hand in the water and that back foot. Starting to take shape though.

4/4 Work on Hallek

Little on the hands and foot today, but mostly the water and background. Setting the tone for more details with plants, etc....

Work on Hallek....

Working way too much on the foreground and background.
Experimenting on the right side and getting so so results.

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

3/23 Work on Hallek

Starting to get background and foregrounds put in. The lilies are only half finished. Making some really cool washes to create the water.

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

3/16 Geese

Starting to color in the geese.

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

3/15 Work on Hallek

A couple of Geese always are good to fill a page...

Monday, March 14, 2011

3/14 Work on Hallek

Started laying in the background colors. As what usually happens with all my paintings, by the end it may look totally different.

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

3/09 Work on Hallek

Re-painted the legs and started to block in the hand and fingers. I hate having unfinished borders around a figure, so had to put in some color just to define her.
