Monarch Fairy Painting

This painting was finished a couple of years ago, but without the monarch wings. I always had a problem with the position of her leg, so to fix the problem give her wings. I also fleshed out the background some and put a pond below her.

Phoebe Painting Finished

The Phoebe painting has finally been finished. As you can see I totally took out the background of photographers. The image by herself was just too striking to dilute the painting.

Start of a new painting, commentating on the photographers who are not really professional taking advantage of young models. This is going to be areal challenge for me.

Painting needs a title....

I saw this painting as a photograph and thought it would make a great painting. There is some background story to it, but I am leaving it up to the viewer to come up with their own ideas. This is a 9x12 acrylic on canvas.

Finished painting. Need to take a better photograph once the varnish is put on. Will do several tests to see if it is best to use Matte or Glossy. May try a mix, since the tiles could be wet.

Freckles 3

Another couple of hours. I whitened up the tiles in the background, totally repainted her and put down a bottom layer of paint for the hair.

Freckles 2

Finally decided to put her in some sort of tiled bath area.

Freckles

Been working more on painting people. I am still very stuck on whether to keep the background light, paint it dark or add something to the background.

Bodie Lighthouse

For the past week or so, I have been working on this painting of Bodie Lighthouse in North Carolina. Everything is looking good, except having a little trouble with the landscape.

Studio

This is the current studio I have. We have taken one of the small bedrooms at the front of the house which gets great sunlight all day long and converted it into my studio. The very light gray walls give a great hue to the room. I just have to get some artwork for the walls, but really rather put up artwork of other artists, not my own. My old studio area is covered with paintings that I have done in the past, so they can stay there.

Final Version of Jupiter Lighthouse

The final version of the Jupiter Lighthouse.

Orchid Series

Orchid 2 on the top. Orchid 1 on the bottom.
Start of a new series of photographs of orchids. I have numerous orchids and have been photographing them for years. For this series, as each orchid blooms, it will be photographed with a black background.

For some time I have been working on this painting. It just sort of came in layers. The sky, the beach and woods in the background, then the cyprus (sp) trees, throw in some cat tails and then hmmmm what next. How about a dead log.

Revising an Older Painting

Sometimes a painting just does not work. I took the first version of this lighthouse, which I was very unhappy with the grounds and sky, and redid everything except the lighthouse. I did a little retouching on the lighthouse, and still need to do a little more.
